Strength Training in Eagle Rock for Adults 40+

Strength training after 40 is not about lifting the most, it is about keeping what you have and adding back what you lost. At our Eagle Rock studio you lift real weight, progressively, with a coach making sure your knees, shoulders and back stay out of trouble.

Progressive, and safe on the joints that matter

You get heavier over time, because that is the only thing that actually builds strength. The part people get wrong is the rate, and the positions they get heavy in.

A coach on the floor decides both. That is why members who arrived with a cranky shoulder are still training a year later instead of sitting out a flare-up.

What you get back

Stairs without thinking about them. Luggage into the overhead bin. Getting off the floor without a plan. The strength you notice first is the ordinary kind.

Bone and muscle respond to load at any age, which is exactly why 40 and up is the right time to be doing this rather than the wrong one.

How it runs at the Eagle Rock studio

Small groups, a written plan per person, and a coach setting your weights and watching your form.

We train people from Eagle Rock, Highland Park, Glassell Park and Glendale, and a lot of them had never touched a barbell before their first month here.

The program behind it

We give you everything you need to get in fantastic shape. No injuries, no nonsense. Our coaches keep you accountable every step of the way, with programming written for the body you have today.

Questions people ask

I have never lifted weights. Can I still do this?

Yes, and a good number of our members started that way. You learn the movements with a coach standing next to you, at a weight that is right for the body you have today.

Will heavy lifting hurt my back?

Bad positions and jumping the load hurt backs. Coached lifting, at a weight chosen for you, is one of the better things you can do for one. Tell your coach what bothers you and the plan changes around it.

Is strength training its own program, or part of the main one?

It is the strength work at the heart of our small group personal training, not a separate membership. We also run Team Training, a larger group format, at select times. Ask your coach.
